Happy birthday Ruby, 16 today, Kate’s little girl is getting all grown up. And Grace, my little girl is about to embark on life’s great adventure as she prepares to go to bucolic Bath Spa university. They are moving into adulthood in a country Roberto Saviano thinks the most corrupt country in the world. He has some form with regard to corruption as he’s a bit of an expert on the mafia, in particular the camorra, a Neopolitan organised crime crew, and he now lives under police protection.

His claim is based on the fact of London being our financial capital (geddit?)and that 90% of owners of capital in London have their headquarters offshore (taken from a report in the telegraph, that bastion of socialist propaganda):

“Jersey and the Cayman’s are the access gates to criminal capital in Europe and the UK is the country that allows it. That is why it is important why it is so crucial for me to be here today and to talk to you because I want to tell you , this is about  you, this is about your life, this is about your government.

“Leaving the EU means allowing this to take place. It means allowing the Qatari societies, the Mexican cartels, the Russia Mafia to gain even more power and HSBC has paid £2 billion Euros in fines to the US government, because it confessed that it had laundered money coming from the cartels and the Iranian companies. We have proof, we have evidence.”

Money to the british banking system is amoral, they don’t care where it comes from only that they take their cut. As Brecht said: “what is the robbing of a bank compared to the founding of a bank?”

We have created a facade in this country over the centuries that we somehow have a sort of moral superiority; that we behave better than the colonials and natives of other countries, a sense of ‘fair play’, an English gentleman’s word is his bond and the like. Bollocks.

We created this facade as we plundered so many countries and peoples in the british empire. But we gave them trains, a civil service and the like. Yes, but only to make the plundering more efficient.

And this country’s corruption amongst the ‘higher echelons of society’, unlike monetary trickle down, does trickle down. Our class-ridden society is riddled with corruption of all sorts:

Education: the rich ‘elite’ send their progeny to expensive private schools giving them a golden key to adult life. A selective education system for the rest gives the middle class a poor persons facsimile of the private system. See the tts under may are going to bring back grammar schools despite overwhelming evidence that a proper comprehensive system works better for all children whilst the grammar system condemns the great majority to lesser life chances.

Transport: privatisation has and is allowing massive looting of the public realm. We have one of the most expensive transport systems in the world and massive public subsidy finds it’s way into the pockets of the likes of  beardy ransom. A private company in Bath flogs it’s student annual ticket for £299 with the lure of those who buy first getting a free doughnut. Here in sleepy Swanage those students who want to get the bus to the local 6th form in Wareham have to get their parents to fork out £600 a year. And hot off the press Ruby not able to get on the school bus this morning for the second time this week as it’s too full so Kate has to drive her and her friends to school. And as for car parking charges in rip off Britain. What do you do if you see a spaceman? Park man.

Privatisation: as more of the public assets, that’s stuff owned by you and I, which is rapidly diminishing, are sold off we witness ever more avarice and wealth concentration. Just think of what is happening with our health and education systems. mr kleptosaria, chief executive thief of cambian gives himself £9,000,000 worth of shares when the company offers shares to the public, remember almost all of cambian’s money comes from the public purse.

Heard yesterday from one of my many sources, not Hector as he is very circumspect with me now, that the current head of care at Purbeck View School was not allowed by ofsted to act as temporary head of school because they have no educational qualifications. Made me chuckle. When I was at the school there was a palpable care/education divide which I tried to bridge over the years and when I discussed this once with the then head (now head of care but can’t be head of school now without an educated deputy) they clearly stated their bias towards the place being a care home rather than a school. I replied that the clue was in the name: Purbeck View School, I was dismissed.

Anyway, I digress with my petty personal bollocks. We live in a country where the bottom 90% or so are increasingly ripped off. And whenever the ‘elite’ are in any way threatened they close ranks, cover up, dissemble, lie and continue to cheat. Example: the  Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse has already seen 3 chairs come and go and hands up anyone who thinks anyone from the ‘elite’ will actually be punished? saville was mates with thatcher, prince charles and had many members of the ‘establishment’ in his thrall, just check this out:

Arms sales to any dodgy country.

I could go on but enough already, we are a corrupt country.

Happy birthday Ruby.

We’re moving to Italy, a less corrupt country!

Oh happy days, keep on keeping on, love Duncan.
